In his lifetime, Franz compiled information on the Fritz family in Austria, and later the Fritz family of the United States.
Benedikt Fritz was born in Austria on 22 May 1791, to Benadikt and Anna Maria Katharina Fritz. He married Veronika Jochum likely in 1837. He died in Bludenz, Austria on 4 February 1861. He was buried on the old church yard (Heilig-Kreuz-Kirche, or Holy Cross Church) in Bludenz, Austria.
