PROMINENT WIOTA LADY SUCCUMBS TO RAVAGES OF CANCER

Mrs. Frank Beebe Passed Away Last Evening After Lingering Illness. Funeral Will be Sunday.

WIOTA, Ia., Oct. 31. — Mrs. R. R. Beebe, pioneer citizen of Wiota and wife of Frank Beebe, died Thursday night at 6:30 o'clock. Death was the result of an internal cancer and follows an illness of about five months. Her life has hung in the balance for the past two weeks, during which time her relatives have been constantly at her bedside.

Operated On In June.

Mrs. Beebe's condition became alarming last June. She was rushed to the Methodist Hospital in Des Moines where she underwent an operation. For weeks her life was despaired of. She rallied and continued to improve until about two months ago when she took a turn for the worse. Since that time her condition became more acute daily. She was 60 years of age. Mrs. Beebe was born December 4, 1861 at Blakesburg, Iowa, and was the daughter of Christian and Ellen Fritz. She was untied in marriage to Frank Beebe at Churchville, Iowa Feb 6, 1881. During Mrs. Beebe's thirty years' residence in Wiota she has endeared herself to all, who feel the irreparable loss to the community.

Funeral Sunday.

Besides her husband and aged mother she leaves to mourn her death four children, A. J. Beebe, Lewis; Carl Beebe, Omaha; Mrs. W. R. Johnson of Cambridge, Iowa; and Sherm Beebe, Wiota; and three brothers, W. B. Fritz, Dexter; F. L. Fritz, Earlham; and J. F. Fritz of Van Meter. Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock at the Methodist Church. The Rev. C. L. Thomas and J. A. Mitchell officiated. The Rebekah Lodge, with which deceased was affiliated, had charge of the services at the grave in the Wiota Cemetery.
