William Arlie Fritz was born in Penn Township, Iowa on 14 December 1897, to William Benedict and Emma Shumaker Fritz. He died in Sun City, Arizona on 22 May 1978. He was buried in the Dexter Cemetery in Dexter, Iowa.

Obituary

William Arlie Fritz, oldest son of William B. and Emma Schumacher Fritz was born in Madison County near Earlham in 1897 and departed this life at Boswell Hospital in Sun City, Arizona May 22, 1978 at the age of 80 years, 5 months and 8 days, following a short illness of emphysema and heart conditions. His early childhood was spent in and near Dexter where he attended the local schools. In 1923 he was married to A. Louise Compton. To this union were born two children, C. Wayne Fritz now of Phoenix, Arizona and Barbara Jean Fritz Tuttle of Sanford, North Carolina. In his early life Mr. Fritz joined the Methodist Church in Dexter, later transferring to the Perry Methodist Church. Much of his life was spent in Iowa, farming in Dallas and Madison Counties. Later he was associated with the implement business with his son Wayne in Perry. After his retirement he moved to Sun City, Arizona in 1971. Preceding him in death were his parents, two brothers, Walter and Clarence, and one sister Evelyn Dennis. He leaves to mourn his passing his devoted wife Louise, his son Wayne and daughter-in-law Ethel Mae, his daughter Barbara Jean and her husband John, two granddaughters, Linda and Krista Fritz, two sisters, Mrs. Calla Couch of Boone and Mrs. Gertrude Brinton of Dexter and a host of relatives and friends. Memorial services were held at the McKee Funeral Home Thursday morning at 11 a.m. at Dexter. Casket bearers were Leland Couch, Roger Dennis Norman Bennett, Warren Bender, Lowell Dawes and Roger Harvey. Interment was at the Dexter Cemetery.
